Couples Counseling

Strengthen your connection, improve communication, and build a more fulfilling relationship together.

What Couples Counseling Looks Like

Couples counseling is honest, attentive work on the relationship itself. Not just talking about what is hard between you, but learning to do something different in real time. Sessions usually involve both partners together. Some couples come because conflict has become the default rhythm. Others come because a specific event (an affair, a transition, an outside stressor) has disrupted the trust they had. Many come because something feels muted and they want it back. The work draws from research on attachment, emotionally-focused therapy, and the Gottman model, and is shaped to the relationship in the room. All structures are welcome: married, dating, engaged, LGBTQIA+, polyamorous, or partnered in ways that do not have a tidy name.

Who This Is For

  • Couples in any structure: married, dating, engaged, LGBTQIA+, polyamorous.
  • Couples working through a specific event (affair, transition, outside stressor).
  • Couples where the daily rhythm has become low-grade conflict or distance.
  • Couples preparing for a major decision (cohabitation, marriage, kids, separation).
  • Couples who want preventive maintenance, not crisis repair.

What to Expect

  • Both partners present in most sessions (occasional individual sessions when useful).
  • Specific time spent on communication patterns in the room, not just talking about them.
  • Homework between sessions: small experiments, communication practices, honest reflection.
  • Honest framing of the work: I will name what I see, even when it is uncomfortable.
  • A clear sense of progress, paced to the actual relationship, not a formula.
